Real Estate Agents and Home Insurance: Should I listen?
First time home buyers often times get confused by the smallest of details. For this reason they turn to anybody and everybody for help. Asking your real estate agent for assistance with particular details is a good idea. Some homebuyers even ask them for help with buying home insurance. Is this a good idea, or are you better off talking to somebody else about this?
Most real estate agents are well connected. This means that they have the ability to help you in a variety of areas, including finding the right home insurance coverage. But remember, a real estate agent sells homes not insurance. You need to make sure that you are not taking advice direct from your real estate agent, but instead getting in touch with an insurance broker or agent who can answer your questions. Most real estate agents have a network of insurance professionals that they can point you towards.
Of course, you don't have to listen to your real estate agent when it comes to buying home insurance. Instead, you can do the work on your own. Are you capable of using the internet to secure home insurance quotes or calling agents on the phone to see what they offer? If you are capable of buying a home you are more than capable of buying home insurance to go along with it. Don't let anybody tell you that you aren't.
Real estate agents know a lot about selling homes and a little bit about home insurance. You can ask your agent for a referral, but make sure you are the one who ultimately chooses which home insurance policy to buy. The insurance that you purchase is meant to protect your home. Obviously, this is very important.
